Why feature Edilberto A. del Valle?
I chose Edilberto Aguilar del Valle, my grandfather a person whom I never met because he passed away because of diabetes, as our feature because ever since I was a child my mother and all my relatives always talk about how great he was as a congressman in Northern Samar. I grew up in an extended family where all my family members including the house helpers are Waray which is why even though I don’t know how to speak the language I can still understand it. Every summer we go to Cawayan to our provincial home, we take a convoy ride which takes 10-12 hours from Manila and because of the waiting time to what they call the “Ro-ro” or the ferry boat to Allen, Samar. So what I’m saying is that there is always a strong connection of the Waray culture at home and outside home. To sum it all up I truly believe with all my heart that my grandfather was a great politician who puts others before himself and a man of honour who holds the values of honesty and integrity to the maximum extent.
